Almancil’s Oxford candidates

Grant Howitt is applying to St Peter’s College, Oxford, to study English, which is always a very competitive course to get on to and Becky Dulieu would like to read music at Selwyn College, Cambridge. Both of these students attend São Lourenço International School in Almancil, which is to be congratulated for helping these students achieve excellent exam results. The third is Nga Si Lau (Gina) who spent her childhood in Macau and Shanghai then came to Portugal with her parents in 1999. She currently studies at Escola Secundária de Loulé and is applying to study engineering at Newham College, Cambridge.
The interview is only a small step in the selection process, each has completed an application form and they have been required to produce several pieces of work to strict deadlines over the last few weeks. Then, before the interviews, which can take as long as three days, they are required to undergo further tests and screenings by the professors. They have been given the opportunity to practice in mock interviews, but know that Oxbridge interviews are notoriously gruelling. Good luck!
