Portugal’s football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo got the kind of news no one who has offered up €14 million would wish to hear. The Spanish taxman wants more. Double in fact - and it appears to have the upper hand.

Says Lusa, if CR7 doesn’t agree to pay up €28 million, and publicly assume that he committed four counts of fraud, he will have to argue the toss in court where he faces an eight-year jail term if found guilty.

This is just the latest twist in a torturous story involving numerous footballers investigated by Spanish tax authorities over income from image rights (click here).

Elsewhere, the press is full of news that PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) could be trying to lure Ronaldo away from Real Madrid for €45 million a year, double his current salary.

With all this talk involving seven digits, Ronaldo is keeping mum and enjoying a bit of R&R with his family before preparing for the national team’s final World Cup preparation match with Algeria (June 7) two days before departure to Russia.
