The Chaîne at Sea
The confreres were treated to a variety of small plates

The Algarve Bailliage of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs met for lunch on September 8 at Vila Joya’s new beach restaurant Sea (Xiringuito beach, Galé).

Since it opened in May, this luxury heaven has acquired quite a reputation for serving top class, tapas-style light dishes.

Confreres of the Chaîne were treated to a variety of small plates: the freshest of oysters with apple and ginger, toro tartare and nigiri sushi by their Japanese Chef, Burrata from Italy, a perfectly-grilled flank steak with chimichurri from Argentina; and two desserts to finish the lunch, one of tropical fruits, coconut foam and mango sorbet, the other a chocolate cream with caramel ice-cream and banana - the perfect end to a superb summer luncheon on the beach.

A sparkling sangria was served to start with, followed by a Sauvignon Blanc from Casa Santa Eulália in the Minho and a red Touriga Nacional from the organic vineyards of Julia Kemper, in the Dão region. A great choice from the sommelier!
The bar/restaurant itself is beautiful and cool, all in white lacquered wood and beige fabrics, and oozes charm, exclusivity and relaxed comfort.

The staff is obviously trained at Vila Joya’s two-Michelin-starred main venue next door as the service was faultless.

The next event of the Algarve Bailliage will be a weekend in October on the Guadiana river, enjoying some simple Portuguese food and also the cooking of two-Michelin-starred chefs, Albano Lourenço at Monte Rei and Xanty Elías at Acánthum in Huelva.
