More rainy weather is forecast for Portugal this weekend, especially in the central and northern regions of the country. It will also be very cold, with minimum temperatures dropping below zero in northern inland regions where snowfall is likely.

Chances are that the wet and cold weather will continue into next week, say meteorologists, with minimum temperatures expected to increase again on Tuesday only to drop again shortly after.

“There will be some fluctuations, but temperatures will be close to what is normal at this time of year,” meteorologist Ângela Lourenço from sea and weather institute IPMA told Lusa news agency.

According to IPMA, maximums are not expected to exceed 16ºC in the Algarve while minimums could drop to as low as 7ºC.
